Please read the WELCOME LETTER from our President...Mrs. Leah Drake Stith
Dear Greyhounds,
It is with great pride and sincere pleasure that I welcome you to the I.C. Norcom Alumni, Inc.’s website. What a historic time for the Norcom family! We are among the precious few who had an opportunity to attend a Historically Black High School and can return and find our high school still in existence. Norcom is one of the few remaining high schools left after integration. Many of those who attended Historically Black High Schools throughout the south, witnessed their Alma Mater converted into storage facilities or just left vacant to decay. We are proud to say that Norcom “LIVES” because of each of you. You have fought for decades to keep Norcom open and because of your support and efforts, Norcom will continue to serve as an inspiration, passing on knowledge and pride to countless numbers of young people who will walk along your path. With each of us working together reflecting on our past struggles and achievements, we will be better equipped to meet our future and continue the Greyhound legacy and pride.
The Alumni Association continues to be a leader in the fight to keep the Norcom Legacy Alive, as we invest in the students by giving scholarships, we are partnering with the Librarians as they work to immerse the students in learning the history of the school with an extensive collection of articles, pictures and memorabilia. Secondly, we will have the "GREYHOUND SPOTLIGHT" on our Web-page. highlighting individuals from each of the following periods; the past (1950-1979); present (1980-1999) and the future (2000 to the present). Thirdly, our largest project will be the PCI, Oral History Project.
Please join your Alumni Association during these historical times and stand with us in our effort to achieve our goals. We ask God's blessing upon our Alumni Association and look forward to seeing you at our next Alumni meeting. Again, a sincere and hearty welcome from your I.C. Norcom Alumni Association.
Sincerely Yours,
Leah Drake Stith (ICN c/o '67)
